How do I lose weight/build muscle for a 10k?
I am running my first 10k in a few weeks and I would like to lose some weight and build some muscles so that I might be able to complete the race. I am 17, 5′10″ 163 lbs. and I run about 3 miles 4 times a week. Can anyone suggest how I could lose a few pounds while strengthening my abs? I would prefer not to use any machines for strength training.
building muscle won’t help you in a 10k. You just need to run a lot.. build up your running stamina.
If you want to lose a few pounds, I would run even more. Don’t take your calories too low or your metabolism will be slower and you won’t lose weight because it will start storing it. Burn the fat.. don’t try to starve it.
